The Absence of the Meaning of Home

Where they are - Shahd Faraj

The Absence of the Meaning of Home is the first exhibition in our new gallery space, opening on 28 March at 17:00 at Place du Samedi 13.

Originally planned as the outcome of an international workshop between students from Birzeit University, Sint Lucas School of Arts Antwerp, and Dutch scholars, the project was interrupted when escalating war in the region led to cancelled flights and the workshop’s cancellation.

The exhibition now reflects that absence through fragments, drafts, gestures of care, embroidered works, and postcards shaped by distance and displacement.

Earlier that day, at 14:00, Fasila Collective hosts a public reading in the studio exploring home and forced displacement (limited capacity, registration required on Instagram).

Food and drinks available nearby.

See you on the 28th — in solidarity.
